Choose for the best Non Destructive testing for the safety of your company

NDT can be described as a set of methods and techniques used to inspect the integrity of materials. Perhaps, its most crucial point is NDT inspects materials without degrading them in any way or make it non destructive. Within the industry the use of NDT is to maintain the integrity of essential pieces of mechanical equipment to provide safety, also to prevent unexpected downtime and loss of revenue in the industry.

Due to the benefits, safety critical and high turnover; industries tend to take advantage of NDT also known as Non-Destructive Testing more than anything else. Examples of such Industries are power, chemical, and petroleum industry. There are so many routes into the NDT industry; one of the methods is engineering at the degree level. After that there are specific certifications such as API 653
, 510, 570, EEMUA 159, ECT, MPI etc. But, sometimes just the willingness to do the job is quite enough. Although a large portion of those people who are involved in NDT will also be from a military NDT background, and will get trained during their military careers.

There are several technologies and techniques are included that make up an inspection toolkit. Some of the more common ones are MPI (Magnetic Particle Inspection), Dye Penetrant Inspection (DPI) and ECT (Eddy Current Testing). This type of trend can be used for quicker inspections, with more advanced technologies and techniques being bought in for more thorough analysis or more specific or complex situations. Some more advanced techniques are RFET (Remote Field Electromagnetic Technique), LRUT (Long Range Ultrasonic Technique), IRIS (Internal Rotary Inspection System) and LFET (Low Frequency Electromagnetic Technique) etc.

As well as including in standard technologies, there should be standard pieces of equipment that crop up in the Non-Destructive Inspection field. Because it is of the similar nature of process related industrial equipment and isn't surprising at all.

Some of the main types of equipment encountered are heat exchangers, tubular specifically, condensers, boilers, pressure vessels, storage tanks, columns and towers and pipelines. Although in reality material it can be tested through the combination of methods, or a custom design method. Naturally industry is always changing and therefore, there is never a standard set of equipment or methods.

NDT companies themselves, vary widely in what they can do, in terms of technology and methods. A lot of NDT companies will only perform basic methods such as magnetic particle, or dye penetrant. On the other hand, some will also present much less information in reports, as compared to the other companies, or may not have a quality assurance system in place. When looking for a Non Destructive Testing company you always be aware of it that, just because the price is good, doesn't mean you'll be getting the same service.
